Drawing on traditional concepts in sociology, I attempt to understand how a ‘sense of community’ can be constructed and maintained in the contemporary world. I conducted an in-depth study of one such community, contemporary British Pagans, in the early 2000s.
I conduct user-studies with engineers to understand the use, social organisation and meaning of technology. Methodology is qualitative, influenced by ethnomethodology. Indicative publications are: Familial Collaborations in a Museum Doing Community: Co-construction of Meaning and Use with Interactive Information Kiosks
